This blog will be where I will attempt, over the course of the 2008-2009 school year, to chronicle the progress of the HSTE Project, a project based learning "project" of my Health Science Technology Education classes at Hereford High School in Hereford, Texas.
I have decided to create this blog apart from my personal blog so I can separate what I blog about other educational issues and things that are more specific concerning the HSTE Project. It is my hope that by the end of the upcoming school year, we will have a fairly accurate record of our journey and that this blog could possible serve as a guide and help others who want to flatten their own classrooms or start their own project.
On July 10, 2008 I wrote a post "So Much to Teach, Where to Start". This post contained my thoughts about where to start our project and what Web 2.0 tools we could potentially use and how to start the project.
Well on July 28th I was able to present the idea of the HSTE Project to both our CT&E Director and High School Principal and was pleased that both were enthusiastic about how I wanted to "teach" my classes this year and gave me their approval to proceed.
Today I was surprised to see that Julie Lindsay who blogs at E-Learning Journeys had referenced The HSTE Project on her blog post How to Flatten Your Classroom - Getting Started. It was fantastic that Julie who is the Head of Information Technology and E-Learning at Qatar Academy, Doha, State of Qatar and one of the Co-Creators of Flat Classroom Project and The Horizon Project referenced our project on her blog. Julie along with Vicki Davis are two edubloggers where many of my ideas were developed and where I got the inspiration to initiate my own project.
So the journey begins! School starts in 28 days. What will the HSTE Project look like by June 2009? Well I don't know but I am excited to see how my students will amaze me with what they create!
So, Welcome to the HSTE Project blog. Please visit our HSTE Project Wikispace and the HSTE Project Ning.
