Students starting to join the HSTE Project Ning site

Today, students started actually joining the HSTE Project Ning Website even though I am not at school and have a substitute! Wow, you just have to love the technology that is available.

Actually, the students enrolled in my HSTE classes this year have been very good at trying to become a part of the HSTE Project and how we will develop it for this upcoming school year. Yesterday, we just started getting everyone used to what the Ning and The HSTE Project Wikispaces are all about.

Yesterday in class I introducted Moodle and our HISID Online Learning Course Management System in several short lessons including editing student profiles in Moodle. So far, even though we are moving right along at a fairly good pace, all of the students seem up to the task. Tomorrow, we will have are first challenge of the school year. We will be taking a quiz online in Moodle over our Acceptable Use of Computers and Networks Policy. Although, this is still just a short, introductory assignment and our real work over our Health Science Technology TEKS will not get into high gear for about another week. I am pleased at the progress we have made so far.

Even though I was not at school, I was able to keep tabs on the Ning, send out individual welcome messages, and answer a few questions both online and by telephone back to my classroom. So, we are off to a good start and Let The Collaboration Begin. After all, that is what a secure educational network like the ning is all about.
Until next time...
